Tonata PLHIV Network responds to a ‘felt need’ for continued networking and meaningful engagement of People living with HIV (PLHIV) in activities that concern and improve the lives of PLHIV. Tonata PLHIV network has a wide experience in providing psychosocial support to the support group members, also in delivering structured health session to the group members as well as provision of limited adherence counseling and referral.
Recently Tonata started expanding the delivery of ARV to support group members through one or two members who pick up the ARVs from the health facilities for the rest of the group members. Community refill groups (CAGs) is a powerful force to influence change in “HIV Response”.
With this introduction of community based ARV refill groups have resulted in an increasing demand from PLHIV to join support groups and also to become members of Tonata. In establishing the CAGs Tonata is contributing to the National care and treatment objective by improving adherence and retention of PLHIV as well as to the 3rd 90 of the UNAIDS goals which is aimed at ensuring that 90% of PLHIV on ART are virally suppressed.
